Sunday Brunch: Rhubarb-Pineapple Crisp
Sunday Brunch on Sweet Success is back!
I took a two week break from my Sunday Brunch series because I was feeling overwhelmed with half-marathon training. My longest runs took place the last few weekends and I was useless after those runs.
The half-marathon is in nine days and I’m tapering my runs now. So that means more time to cook and bake!
While I was picking up groceries the other...

Out and About: Unplug
How many hours a day do you spend on Facebook? How many hours do you spend watching TV?
Adults spend 8.5 hours each day with some sort of screen media. In a year, the average child spends 900 hours in school and nearly 1,023 hours in front of a TV.
Could you tear yourself away from your screens for a day? How about a week?

Let's Eat! Marinated Tempeh Stir-Fry with Broccoli...
Tons of work deadlines and finishing up my half-marathon training have resulted in me neglecting Sweet Success.
I admit, I haven’t been cooking very much. Dinners have been quick omelets after weeknight runs or gym workouts. After long runs on the weekends, I have had no motivation to cook. I think I ate out three times last weekend!!! I even indulged in a delish Belgian waffle with...

Focus on Fitness: Changing Up Your Fitness Routine
After a particularly brutal Pilates class a few weeks ago, I experienced muscle soreness I hadn’t felt in a long time. My arms were sore for days. The kind of sore that made it painful to blow dry my hair.
The four-day long muscle soreness made me realize that I need to change up my workout routine.
I feel pretty fit. I workout almost every day. I’m training to run a half-marathon....

Food and Fitness News
Each week, I read tons of news articles and blogs about health, nutrition, food and fitness.
I often find inspiration for new recipes, learn about new ingredients or the health benefits of ingredients I already use, discover workout ideas or just read about news that’s good to know.
Here is what I’m reading this week…

Fab Food Finds! Nutella
My cubicle neighbor has been on a Nutella kick for the last few weeks. She spoons her creamy hazelnut spread onto bananas or satisfies her afternoon sweet cravings with a spoonful. After watching her eat the chocolatey spread for weeks, I decided to buy my own jar of Nutella.
Today, I followed her lead and ate it with a banana. Very delish. But then I started wondering what else I could do with...

Let's Eat! Matzo Crunch
I found this Passover recipe for Chocolate Caramel Matzoh Crunch and thought it looked super yummy!
http://theaveragegirlsguide.com/2011/04/recipe-chocolate-caramel-matzoh-crunch/
But all the butter and chocolate! Eeeek!!
Luckily, I came across a healthier version today. By cutting down on the butter and using a smaller amount of the homemade caramel and chocolate, this dessert has fewer...

Let's Eat! Easter Leftovers
Your fridge may be filled with ham, mashed potatoes and green bean casserole, but that doesn’t mean you have to eat the same meal for the next week.
Give your holiday leftovers a healthy makeover.

Don't Pass the Salt
You may want to think twice the next time you ask, “Will you pass the salt?”
According to the Mayo Clinic, just a pinch here and a dash there can lead to unhealthy levels of sodium. Just 1 teaspoon of table salt has 2,325 milligrams of sodium.
But even if you cut down on salting your food, you’re still consuming tons of sodium from the processed foods you eat.
Although a...

Sunday Brunch: Easter
Today’s Sunday Brunch is extra special! I’ve come up with an Easter brunch menu!
In my family, we generally do an afternoon meal with ham, mashed potatoes, deviled eggs, homemade noodles and steamed broccoli. To be completely honest, this meal doesn’t excite me too much. Sorry mom! I don’t eat ham and the other foods are kind of bland. I like the idea of doing a Sunday...
