Running 110 Flights of Stairs
A group of nearly 25 people, including volunteer firefighters wearing their gear and others wearing weighted vests, ascended and descended the steps at Cope Stadium on the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus.
There were 110 flights of stairs in the World Trade Center buildings. Kearney Volunteer Firefighter Sonny O’Connor and UNK Wellness Coordinator and CrossFit coach Bryce Abbey organized the event, which honored victims of 9/11.
The most inspiring part of the event was that no one was left to finish alone. As soon as someone finished their 110 flights, they joined someone else who was still going. I was the last to finish (I took photos first and started late) and I didn’t finish alone. Everyone was cheering me on and running right along with me. That was very encouraging. Every workout should be this way!
